Hurricane Ike Pays Us A Visit

The remnants of Hurricane Ike roared through the greater Cincinnati area on Sunday, September 14, 2008 and paid a visit to our Goat Farm.  Below are the pictures of Ike's "visit".  Once again, the Lord was watching over us.  No one was hurt, no goats or chickens were lost and no damage to the our house.  One of the goat houses took several direct hits from large trees falling and there was no damage.   We did lost electricity for about 20 hours.  My son managed to get 3 days off from school - so he wasn't complaining!

Be patient, these pictures take a few minutes to load.

This is the view as you come to the Goat pen.  That is Lily, our white German Shepherd, in the corner surveying the damage.

This is a huge tree that fell in the second goat pen. That is Ida (the black goat) and Chopper (the white goat) checking out the tree.

This goat house took several direct hits from trees falling - it is still standing and no visible signs of damage!  My husband built this house - apparently, he did a good job!

Another view of the house.

Looks like we will need a new fence.

The chicken pen didn't have any damage at all - just a few tree limbs down.
